The M3 CS Handschalter is the first CS variant to feature a 6-speed manual transmission, reflecting its name, which means 'manual shift' in German.

Engine and Performance Details
The M3 CS Handschalter uses the S58 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine delivers 473hp and 550Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. BMW claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 290kph.
This powertrain is identical to the non-CS M3, which also offers a manual transmission. In comparison, the automatic, all-wheel-drive version of the S58 engine produces 57hp and 100Nm more. The automatic variant can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 3.5 seconds, making it 0.6 seconds quicker than the manual. BMW’s M division limits the power of manual models to ensure reliability, while automatic transmissions can handle higher loads.
Chassis, Design, and Features
BMW states that the steering and electronic controls for the chassis, engine, and gearbox are unique to the Handschalter. The ride height has been lowered by 6mm using new springs and a revised rear axle link. The car uses dampers from the M4 CSL for improved handling. The M3 CS Handschalter features the same exterior design as the standard M3 but adds yellow illumination to the LED DRLs, replacing the standard white. The model includes a frameless kidney grille with red surrounds and an M3 CS badge.
Exposed carbon-fibre elements are found on the roof, bonnet, bumper air intakes, front splitter, outside rearview mirror covers, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser. The car rides on forged alloy wheels with a staggered setup: 19-inch rims at the front and 20-inch at the rear. Gloss-black accents appear on the grille and side skirts. Four exterior colours are available: Isle of Man Green, Black Sapphire, Imola Red, and Techno Violet. Imola Red and Techno Violet are available at an extra cost.
Interior and Technology
The interior retains the standard M3 dashboard, featuring a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display in a curved layout. New M Carbon bucket seats are lighter and offer better side support. The M3 CS Handschalter comes standard with the M Drive Professional suite, which includes a 10-stage M Traction Control, M Drift Analyser, and M Laptimer for track use. Additional features include 3-zone automatic climate control, powered and heated front seats, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Optional equipment includes a head-up display and a powered boot lid.
Extensive use of carbon-fibre reduces the car’s weight by 20kg compared to the standard M3. Choosing carbon-ceramic brakes can further reduce weight by 14kg.
Availability and Pricing
The BMW M3 CS Handschalter will be produced in limited numbers for the USA and Canada. Prices start at 107,100 US dollars, which is approximately Rs 1.04 crore before taxes and duties.
