Decline in Mahindra Thar Bookings by 29% as Thar Roxx Launch Approaches

Mahindra is set to introduce the five-door version of its popular Thar SUV, named Thar Roxx, on August 15, 2024. As the launch approaches, Mahindra has increased production and delivery of the three-door Thar, resulting in a significant reduction in open bookings. Current figures show 42,000 open bookings in July 2024, down from 59,000 in May - a 29% decrease. The three-door Thar continues to receive approximately 5,000 new bookings monthly, with expectations of increased interest once the Thar Roxx debuts.

The Thar Roxx is expected to share design similarities with its three-door counterpart, but with several distinctive elements:

• New LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps
• Redesigned front grille with thicker slats
• Revised LED taillights and alloy wheel designs

The interior of the Thar Roxx aims for a more premium feel, featuring a slightly modified design layout. The addition of middle doors results in a longer vehicle and wheelbase, offering improved space and comfort for passengers. A panoramic sunroof is also included, enhancing the cabin's spacious atmosphere.

While Mahindra has released multiple teasers showcasing the Thar Roxx's exterior and interior features, details about its powertrain remain undisclosed. It is anticipated that the five-door model will utilize similar engine options as the current three-door version, potentially with different power and torque outputs.

The existing Thar offers three engine choices:

• 1.5-litre diesel: 117 bhp and 300 Nm
• 2.2-litre diesel: 130 bhp and 300 Nm
• Petrol unit: 150 bhp and 300 Nm

As the launch date approaches, more information about the Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to be revealed, generating increased interest in this new addition to the Thar line-up.
