Ducati is once again coming into the limelight at the Indian Supercross Racing League Season 2 finale in Calicut. The Italian two-wheeler brand has recently made its Desmo450 MX debut in India. With this debut, Ducati has given its fans a first glimpse of the upcoming 2026 motocross model. This marks the Italian icon's bold entry into off-road racing, bringing Borgo Panigale's racing DNA to dirt tracks nationwide.

The debut was held in Callicut on December 21, 2025, in front of a crazy enthusiast crowd that added additional excitement, with Ducati making its official entry into India’s growing off-road motorcycle championship, ISRL, for the 2026 season. Let’s take a closer look at the all-new Ducati Desmo450 MX launching in India next year.

Motocross-Inspired Design

Design

The Desmo450 MX will be Ducati’s first-ever production motocross bike, which offers a motocross-inspired design. To make it lightweight, the brand has used a strong aluminum frame while increasing the strength by decreasing the weld seams. Being a fast-paced dirt bike, braking is also essential while performing heavy off-trail riding, so braking duties are carried out by Brembo hardware with a two-piston floating caliper.

Ducati Desmo450 MX: Engine Specs

As being the only Ducati bike with the Desmodromic engine in India. The bike is powered by Ducati’s all-new 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine with liquid-cooling and a 4-valve head. The engine is designed in such a way that it can be used for both professional and amateur riders. This motocross engine is capable of producing 62 HP of power along with 54 Nm of peak torque.

A wide torque curve delivers 70% peak from 4,200 rpm, ensuring explosive corner exits. Additional features include the titanium intake and sodium-filled exhaust valves, which optimize heat and performance, making it ideal for pros and amateurs alike. This MotoGP-derived powerplant redefines MX benchmarks, blending raw fury with controllable delivery.

From The Director’s Desk

Speaking about the official debut, Mr. Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, said, “The reception for the Desmo450 MX in Calicut was phenomenal. The passion and excitement from the fans were palpable, and it was the perfect welcome for our new off-road chapter. Unveiling the Desmo450 MX at the ISRL finale was the ideal decision. It confirms our belief in the immense potential of the Indian market, and we look forward to the launch next year.”

The Desmo450 MX pioneers patent-pending Ducati Traction Control (DTC) for MX, calibrating slip in real-time. Configurable riding modes, Quick Shifter (up only), Engine Brake Control (EBC), and Power Launch mode empower riders across skill levels. These features make it the smartest 450 cc racer yet.

India Launch Roadmap

Set for Q1 2026, the Desmo450 MX will hit Ducati dealerships, priced competitively against global tags around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Not road-legal, it targets tracks and enthusiasts, with Ducati eyeing MX championships.

CarBike360 Says

This debut aligns with India's growing off-road culture, pitting Ducati against rivals like KTM in the high-stakes 450cc segment. Chandra emphasized the crowd's palpable energy, validating Ducati's strategy to expand beyond street bikes into dirt dominance.
