Ather Energy manufactures 1.2 lakh electric two-wheeler units a year, currently at its existing facility in Tamil Nadu's Hosur. Once a new Ather factory is set up in Hosur, the production capacity is likely to rise up to 4 lakh models per annum, which could be operational by the second half of 2022.
Hero Motocorp sponsored electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy based in Bengaluru has been negotiating with multiple state authorities to establish a new EV factory in India, as per sources.
The Bengaluru-based two-wheeler EV maker Ather is in touch with authorities of several states such as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana to construct an extra EV manufacturing plant for increasing the production capacity to 15 lakh units per year.
Ather Energy electric two-wheeler brand is a popular e-mobility option in the country, especially among the youth, with its fast and stylish Ather 450X e-scooter model and the Ather 450 Plus two-wheeler EV.
According to sources, the Bangalore based EV company is in the final stages of the deal and should be able to finalize the location for the new Ather plant by the next month of July.
