Hero MotoCorp's iconic Hero Splendor Plus remained the best-selling two-wheeler in India for 2024 with impressive sales figures that testify to the popularity of the model. Sales from January to October 2024 were a massive 28,40,595 units, which positions it as an indispensable name in the Indian motorcycle market. This feat speaks volumes not only about the model's reliability and fuel efficiency but also about its roots in both rural and urban segments.

Consistent Sales Growth

Hero Splendor sold 3,91,612 units in the month of October 2024 alone. The YoY growth stands at 25.91% in the same period. These consistent sales are because the bike has a low cost of maintenance and good mileage, making it very viable for budget-conscious customers. The engine of Splendor provides around 60-62 kmpl, and hence is an economical ride for daily commutes.

Competitive Landscape

While the Hero Splendor is the leader, others are close competitors to that model. The Honda Activa still retains its position as the most successful scooter in India with a total of 2,66,806 units sold in October 2024, with a year-on-year growth of 21.91%. The other leader in the commuter category was the Honda Shine, which managed to gain third position with 1,96,288 units sold, showing a very high growth of 19.99%.

The Hero HF Deluxe is one of the highly selling variants of Hero MotoCorp, and it recorded a sale of 1,24,343 units with a marginal growth of 5.63%. Bajaj Pulsar has, however, lost nearly 30% of sales over the previous year, owing to increased demand for budget-friendly options.

Features of Hero Splendor Plus

The success of the Hero Splendor Plus can be attributed to several key features that appeal to a wide range of riders:

  • Engine Performance: The motorcycle is powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces around 8.02 bhp and 8.05 Nm of torque.
  • Fuel Efficiency: With mileage figures that often exceed 60 kmpl, it is one of the most fuel-efficient bikes available.
  • Affordability: Priced competitively between ₹74,650 and ₹84,676 (depending on variants), it remains accessible to a broad audience.
  • Durability and Maintenance: Known for its reliability and low maintenance costs, it has become a preferred choice for daily commuters.

Future Prospects

As the Indian two-wheeler market continues to evolve with increasing demands for electric vehicles and more advanced models, Hero MotoCorp is expected to innovate further while maintaining its stronghold in the commuter segment. The company has an extensive service network across India, ensuring that owners receive adequate support and maintenance services.

CarBike360 Says

Hero Splendor Plus not only remains the best-selling two-wheeler in India but also is an epitome of what makes motorcycles attractive to Indian consumers: affordability, reliability, and efficiency. With Hero MotoCorp continuing to adapt to changing market dynamics and consumer preferences, it seems that the legacy of Splendor will be continued for a long time. With sales growth still being in progress and a loyal customer base, it becomes a benchmark for competitors in the ever-competitive two-wheeler market.
