Kia India has announced that pre-bookings for the new-generation Carnival will begin at midnight on September 16, 2024. Interested customers can reserve the Carnival MPV at Kia dealerships or through the company's official website for a minimum token amount of ₹2 lakh. This latest iteration of the Carnival, which replaces the previous model discontinued in 2023, gets significant upgrades in features and size, aiming to elevate the luxury MPV experience in the Indian market.
The new Carnival comes with premium features, including:
- Curved display with 12.3-inch infotainment system
- 12.3-inch Premium Digital Cluster with Blind Spot View Monitor
- Remote one-touch power door and Liftgate
- Power tailgate auto-close
- Rear Occupant Alert
- Dual panoramic sunroof
- Removable 2nd row seats, foldable 3rd row seats
- 12-speaker Bose sound system
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Level 2 ADAS with 23 autonomous features
Measuring more than 5 meters in length, the 2024 Carnival offers sufficient space for rear-seat passengers. While Kia has not confirmed the engine specifications, it is expected to retain the 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission. Globally, the model is also available with 3.5-litre V6 and 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine options.
Initially, Kia plans to import the new Carnival as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), with local assembly probably following later. This strategy will likely result in a significant price increase, with estimates suggesting a starting price of around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), considerably higher than the previous generation's 2020 launch price of ₹24.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
The previous Carnival model saw success in the market, with over 14,500 units sold between 2020 and 2023. Kia aspires to build on this success by offering multiple seating configurations across variants in the new Carnival, catering to diverse customer preferences in the premium MPV segment.
