Key Highlights

  • Kinetic DX electric scooter launched in July 2025 with prices from Rs 1,11,499 to Rs 1,17,499
  • Features include Easy Key password ignition, 37 L underseat storage, and 2.6 kWh LFP battery
  • Claimed range is up to 105 km per charge with three riding modes and 6.4 bhp rear hub motor
  • DX Plus variant adds telematics and Easy Charge onboard charging system
  • Areas for improvement include ride comfort, switchgear usability, and ignition system security

Key Features and Design

The Kinetic DX showcases a neo-retro design, drawing inspiration from its predecessor. The scooter features an LED headlight, LED turn indicators, functional mirrors, a distinctive fender, three-spoke alloy wheels, and a long, flat seat. The rear includes a robust grab rail and LED tail lights. The instrument cluster is a color LCD unit that pays homage to the original Kinetic Honda DX. Five color options are available for the DX Plus: red, blue, black, grey, and white. The base DX offers black and grey.

Both variants include a speaker and support music playback via the Kinetic Connect app. The DX Plus variant adds a telematics suite called 'Telekinetic Features' and an Easy Charge onboard charging system. The Easy Key password-based ignition system eliminates the need for a physical or smart key. Users enter a password to start the scooter.

The Easy Charge feature provides a 3-meter charging cable hidden behind a flap, accessible at the press of a button. The Easy Flip system allows one-touch deployment of pillion footpegs. The underseat storage offers 37 litres of space, accommodating a full-face helmet, a half-face helmet, and groceries. Additional features include an LED boot light, a USB Type-A port, and a smartphone compartment.

Performance and User Experience

The Kinetic DX uses a 2.6 kWh LFP battery pack, delivering a claimed range of up to 105 km per charge. The rear hub motor produces 6.4 HP peak power. The scooter accelerates from 0-60 km/h in about 10 seconds and 0-80 km/h in around 20 seconds. Three riding modes are available: Range, Power, and Turbo. Turbo mode increases the top speed to 90 km/h, though acceleration remains gradual.

The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels with 100-section tyres. Braking is handled by a front disc and rear drum setup. The DX also features cruise control, though it is not intuitive and could not be activated on the test unit. The ground clearance of 165 mm proved adequate during city use. The DX includes a reverse mode, but activation was inconsistent on some units.

Some practical concerns emerged during testing. The Easy Key system may pose security risks, as passwords can be observed or shared. The base DX lacks the telematics suite needed for tracking and geo-fencing. There is no option for temporary access codes or remote disabling. The switchgear design, while futuristic, may be difficult to use with gloves. Ride quality is on the stiffer side, and some units exhibited rattles and vibrations.

Conclusion and Areas for Improvement

The Kinetic DX offers innovative features and strong practicality. However, execution and quality control need improvement. A softer suspension, a brighter instrument cluster, and a conventional key option would enhance the user experience. The DX is a promising product, but further refinements are needed for it to become a well-rounded offering.
