Made in India, Honda Elevate Gets 5-Star in Japan NCAP Crash Tests

Made in India Honda Elevate, which is rebranded as WR-V in Japan, has recently received a 5-star safety rating in Japan NCAP crash tests. This is a major milestone for Japanese automobile manufacturers because their internationally built SUVs have secured a 5-star safety rating in the homegrown market. The WR-V or Elevate bagged a 90% score by securing 176.23 points out of 193.8.

Honda Elevate performed exceptionally in preventive safety performance, where it scored 82.22 out of 85.8 points; in collision safety performance, it received 86.01 out of 100 points. Moreover, the SUV got a 57.73 score for overall passenger safety and 28.28 points for pedestrian protection. The Honda SUV secured maximum numbers for AEB, full-wrap frontal collision, and offset frontal collision, scoring 5 out of 5 points.
The ADAS feature added 5 out of 5 for lane departure prevention assist and 4 out of 5 for high-performance headlight and pedal misapplication prevention tests. The sturdy and durable build of the SUV further provided 5 out of 5 points, protecting against side collision and pedestrian leg protection. The SUV was rated 4 out of 5 for neck injury (driver seat) and pedestrian head protection.
Honda Elevate (WR-V in Japan) Specifications
Sold as a Honda WR-V in Japan, the Elevate SUV is manufactured in Tapukara, Rajasthan, to be sold in India and exported to international markets. However, the SUV has not yet gone through Bharat or Global NCAP crash tests.
The Honda Elevate SUV was launched in India in 2023 with a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated petrol motor capable of delivering 119 bhp and 145 Nm of torque. The engine unit is mated with six-speed manual or CVT gearbox options. Additionally, the SUV features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and ADAS. The ADAS feature in Elevate, also called Honda Sensing, includes several features like a collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist.
The SUV gets six airbags, traction control, hill start assist, brake assist, lane watch camera, and a comparable boot space of 458 liters.
