Mahindra, a prominent automaker, has been making strides in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with its XUV400 model. However, the company is now preparing to introduce the electric version of its highly popular XUV700. Previously showcased as the XUVe.8, the design patent of the production-ready XUV700 EV has recently surfaced on the internet, giving us a glimpse of its exterior styling.
Exterior Styling: Carrying Forward the Concept's Charisma

The good news for enthusiasts is that the production version of the XUVe.8 will retain most of the distinctive design elements seen in the showcased concept. The leaked design sketch reveals a striking full-width LED daytime running light (DRL) strip that gracefully extends along the bonnet line. The headlamps have been positioned lower on the bumper, while the wheels boast an entirely new design. Enhancing the overall aesthetics, the XUVe.8 will feature a closed-off fascia, the brand's twin peal logo, and copper accents around the window line and bumpers.
Familiar Side Profile and Silver Shade
Upon closer examination, the side profile of the XUV.e8 appears nearly identical to that of the XUV700, ensuring continuity in the model's design language. Additionally, the electric variant will also offer the same silver shade currently available in the internal combustion engine (ICE) version, maintaining consistency across the lineup.
Impressive Battery Specifications for Extended Range
According to earlier revelations by Mahindra, the XUV.e8 will incorporate an 80kWh battery pack positioned under the floor. This sizable battery capacity will allow for a claimed electric range of up to 450km on a single charge.
Furthermore, the electric motors will be finely tuned to deliver approximately 250bhp, ensuring robust performance for the EV. Additionally, the XUV.e8 will come equipped with an all-wheel-drive configuration as standard, further enhancing its capabilities.
Rivalry and Launch Timeline

The highly anticipated XUV.e8 is slated to make its market debut in December 2024, generating immense excitement among EV enthusiasts. It's worth noting that Mahindra's competitor, Tata Motors, is also working on the development of the Harrier EV, which is expected to hit the market sometime in 2024. The competition in the EV segment is heating up, promising an exciting future for electric vehicles in the Indian automotive landscape.
