The company's export portfolio includes 18 models, the widest among Indian original equipment manufacturers. This range covers sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, light commercial vehicles, and now a battery electric vehicle. Maruti Suzuki exports to more than 100 countries, with key markets in Africa, Latin America, Japan, and the Middle East.
The top-selling export models in FY 2025-26 were the FRONX, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire. The company’s entry into electric vehicle exports further expanded its international offerings.
Year-on-Year Export Trends
Maruti Suzuki's export volumes have risen consistently in recent years. The company shipped 0.96 lakh units in FY 2020-21. This figure increased to 2.38 lakh in FY 2021-22, 2.59 lakh in FY 2022-23, 2.83 lakh in FY 2023-24, and 3.32 lakh in FY 2024-25. The 4.47 lakh units exported in FY 2025-26 represent the sharpest annual increase during this period.
Separately, Autocar Professional reported 3.95 lakh vehicles exported by Maruti Suzuki between January and December 2025, a 21% rise over 2024. The difference in numbers is due to the reporting periods: the fiscal year runs from April 2025 to March 2026, while the calendar year covers January to December.
Strategic Initiatives and Manufacturing
Maruti Suzuki is majority-owned by Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Haryana and Gujarat. Its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which produces the e VITARA for global markets, has become strategically important as Suzuki expands its electric vehicle presence internationally.
Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi stated that the export growth reflects Maruti Suzuki's commitment to national economic goals. He highlighted the importance of geographical diversification across more than 100 markets to manage risks and support India's export objectives.
The company’s export performance underscores its growing role in India's automotive sector and its contribution to the country's export-led growth strategy.
