Maruti has exported over 30,000 units of the e Vitara to more than 44 countries. This makes the e Vitara the automaker’s top export model.
Capacity Constraints and Expansion
Maruti currently faces production constraints for the e Vitara EV in India. Domestic production is limited to 2,000 units per month until July. The company plans to complete a capacity expansion at its Gujarat plant by then. The Gujarat facility, originally a Suzuki plant, is now fully owned by Maruti. It serves as the global production hub for the e Vitara, Fronx, and Baleno models.
Additional Production and Market Details
The Gujarat plant also produces the Toyota Urban Cruiser e-Bella. However, pricing for this model in India has not been announced as of now. Maruti’s role as a global hub highlights India’s importance in the production and export of electric SUVs.

The Maruti e Vitara EV’s strong demand for the Alpha variant highlights growing interest in premium electric SUVs in India. However, production bottlenecks could challenge timely deliveries, potentially increasing waiting periods.
