Maruti Suzuki has decided to expand its product range, by including  production of electric vehicles. For the same Maruti Suzuki has disclosed its plan for the upcoming all-electric Multi-Purpose Vehicle codenamed as YMC. The EV is set to debut in the Indian market around September 2026.

Maruti Suzuki's future oriented product strategy aligns with the introduction of hybrid variants of popular models such as the Baleno, Fronx, and Swift. Along with this, the company has decided to introduce development plans of eight new cars, SUVs, and MPVs, including three EVs.

Innovative Architecture

The YMC MPV is expected to be based on an innovative EV architecture, developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. This platform, derived from the eVX EV's skateboard architecture, gives more options to select various body styles. The YMC MPV is expected to use this platform to deliver excellent performance and efficiency tailored for the Indian market.
