Maruti Suzuki India is making plans to expand its catalogue model for the 2025 edition. With the recent launch of the e-Vitara, the brand is planning a new car launch by next month. Recently, MSIL has released a teaser image where we can see the dazzling taillight of its upcoming Escudo model. Some industry analysts suggest that after the post-production unit is revealed, the car will be named Victoris rather than Escudo.
Maruti’s upcoming model will be debuted at Suzuki’s Arena dealership and is positioned to be placed between the Brezza and Grand Vitara models. The brand has also revealed the expected launch date of September 3, 2025. This strategic timing of the reveal, just ahead of the festive season, signals Maruti’s intent to capture substantial interest in India’s booming SUV market. Let's take a look at the upcoming Maruti Escudo or Victoris for Indian customers.

A recent teaser image has surfaced on the internet, which puts the spotlight on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Escudo exterior design language. The new teaser image shows the full-fledged LED taillight, with sharp and sleek styling. Central brake lamps are flanked by integrated turn indicators, ensuring that the rear design not only looks sophisticated but also boosts safety and visibility.
As per the rumors, the upcoming Escudo will borrow its powertrain unit from the existing Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Currently, the Grand Vitara offers three distinct engine options. So under the same development process, the upcoming Escudo might be powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that would generate 101.64 HP and 139 Nm of torque. The same 1.5L strong hybrid engine offers 91 HP along with 122 Nm of peak torque.
Another engine will be the CNG option available at an additional cost. This engine will be capable of producing 87 HP and 121 Nm of peak torque. Various transmission options—five-speed manual, six-speed torque converter automatic, and e-CVT for the hybrid—might be introduced within the engine package. However, Escudo may be introduced as Maruti’s first four-wheel drive system in this price bracket, combining off-road capability with practicality.
While inside the cabin, you may feel as if this car sets a new standard for driving. However, the details of the interior have not been revealed by the brand, but we can assume that the dashboard might boast a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV will be Maruti’s first to feature Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), offering lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more for a premium driving experience.
For safety, the Escudo will offer 6 airbags as standard, front ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera. Other prominent features might include hill hold assist, blind spot detection, ABS with ESP, and adaptive cruise control.
Maruti Suzuki has scheduled Escudo’s launch for September 3, 2025, marking its entry into a fiercely competitive midsize SUV segment dominated by models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq.
As the pricing of the vehicle has not been released, we can expect that the estimated price of the Maruti Suzuki Escudo ranges from Rs 9.00 lakh to Rs 17.01 lakh.
The Maruti Suzuki Escudo will disrupt the market sector of its existing rivals. Once the model is launched, the brand will be able to implement a two-product strategy and capitalize on the internal gap that exists between the Breeza and the Grand Vitara.
