Maruti Suzuki eVX Spotted Testing Again

The Maruti Suzuki eVX has been making appearances on test tracks, both in India and overseas, heightening anticipation for its imminent launch. The collaboration between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, with the latter unveiling its Urban Crossover Concept, indicates a strategic move towards electrification in the Indian market. How True is the Production Model to Concept?

Analyzing the evolution from concept to production, the Maruti Suzuki eVX has undergone certain modifications. While the concept displayed a more chiselled and edgy exterior with complex character lines, the production model has opted for a toned-down approach. Notable changes include a shift from sleek LED headlights to a more conventional design, and a more open front grille, housing a radar module for the ADAS suite – a potential first for Maruti vehicles.

How True is the Production Model to Concept?

The wheels have transitioned from aero-style seen on the concept to simpler ones on the production model. Rear-view cameras and flush door handles have given way to conventional ones, and the rear door handle is now positioned on the C-pillar, adding an interesting touch. Despite these alterations, the core silhouette of the production model retains the design ethos of the concept, featuring an almost three-box design.

Tail lights on the test mule were temporary dummy units, with the final model expected to showcase connected tail lights, a shark-fin antenna, a subtle rear spoiler, and a non-flashy bumper. These changes reflect the practical considerations involved in mass manufacturing while maintaining the essence of the initial design.
