In India, Mercedes-Benz has formally introduced the revised Mercedes-AMG G 63, which retails for ₹3.60 crore ex-showroom. The brand is currently taking bookings for further deliveries, which are anticipated to start by Q3 2025, after the first batch of more than 120 units was already reserved. The new model keeps the distinctive G-Class silhouette while adding new amenities, a modernised look, and mild hybrid technology.
What’s New in the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Facelift?
The 2024 AMG G 63 features several subtle design updates while preserving its signature boxy profile: The radiator grille's dark chrome finish and the front bumper's new vertical slats give it a more contemporary look. To improve aerodynamic efficiency and lower noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels, the A-pillars have been gently rounded off, and the windscreen has a new lip. A spare wheel cover with a carbon fiber finish is an option. For the first time, the G-Class has keyless entry and go, a function that needed careful engineering to incorporate without changing the door handle.
Powertrain and Performance
The AMG G 63's potent 4.0-liter V8 engine is now mated to a 48V mild hybrid system: In which it adds 22 horsepower to the 3,982cc V8 engine's 585 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. The SUV is equipped with paddle shifters and a 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox. With the AMG Performance package, the AMG G 63 can reach a top speed of 240 km/h and go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Additionally, a new launch control feature has been included. With a 229mm ground clearance, a 700mm water-wading depth, a 31-degree approach angle, and stability on inclines of up to 35 degrees, the SUV maintains its off-road capabilities.
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Inside, the AMG G 63 receives major changes in tech: With the GLS redesign, the SUV now has the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system. The infotainment system, which is now a touchscreen for the first time, and the driver's display are both equipped with two 12.3-inch screens. In Wireless Connectivity you get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are built in.
For entertainment you will have in-cabin experience enhanced by a 760-watt Burmester sound system with 18 speakers. At the driver's seat the update includes a revised three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel. Additional features include a wireless mobile charger, temperature-controlled cup holders, a range of 29 color variations, and 31 distinct MANUFAKTUR upholstery options. The off-road "control center" has also been redesigned for simpler access.
