CLA EV Variants and Performance
Mercedes-Benz will offer the CLA EV in two trims for India: the 200 Standard Range and the 250+ Long Range. The Standard Range version has a WLTP-rated range of 542 km, while the Long Range variant claims 792 km. The international-spec CLA 250+ uses an 85 kWh battery pack and a rear axle-mounted motor, delivering 268 hp and 335 Nm of torque. Overseas, a CLA 350 variant is also available with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, producing 349 hp and 515 Nm.
Both CLA EV variants feature an 800V electrical system for fast charging. The CLA 200 can gain up to 320 km of range in 20 minutes using a 240 kW DC fast charger. The CLA 250+ can add up to 400 km of range in the same charging time.
Design and Dimensions
The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV features a modern design with electric vehicle styling cues. The front sports a blanked-off grille in gloss black, highlighted by illuminated tristar elements. Twin-pod LED headlights are connected by a slim LED strip, creating a wide and futuristic look. At the rear, another LED strip links the taillights for a cohesive appearance.
The side profile is clean and aerodynamic, with flush door handles and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels designed for better airflow. Black cladding along the lower body adds visual contrast.
Interior Features and Safety
The CLA EV comes standard with a dual-screen setup, including a 10.25-inch driver’s display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin features a 3-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls and a matte silver finish on the center console. Standard features include powered and heated front seats with memory, a fixed panoramic glass roof, and automatic climate control. Ventilated seats are not available in the Indian variants but are offered in the CLA 350 abroad.
On the safety front, the CLA EV is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, Level 2 ADAS, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake. The model received a 5-star Euro NCAP rating in 2025.
Pricing and Market Position
The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is expected to be priced at around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It will compete with models like the Tesla Model Y and Kia EV6 in the electric sedan segment.
