Mercedes-Benz has removed the A-Class Limousine, EQA, EQB, and EQE SUV from its India website. This decision comes ahead of the CLA EV launch and signals a shift in focus to higher-end models. The company confirmed that it has sold out existing stock of these models in India.
Key Highlights
- Mercedes-Benz removes A-Class Limousine, EQA, EQB, and EQE SUV from India website
- A-Class Limousine was the most affordable Mercedes-Benz model in India
- GLA SUV is now the entry-level Mercedes-Benz with prices starting at Rs 51.80 lakh
- CLA EV will be the only entry-level electric vehicle in the lineup
- Entry-level segment saw a 23 percent decline in 2025
In an official statement, Mercedes-Benz said customers seeking the latest battery electric vehicle (BEV) can consider the new CLA. The CLA is described as the brand's most advanced model and will debut on April 24. The company has also delisted the EQE SUV, further reducing its entry-level offerings.
Declining Entry-Level Segment
In 2025, Mercedes-Benz reported a 23 percent drop in its entry-level segment in India. Instead of engaging in a price war, the company has chosen to focus on value rather than volume. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, stated that the brand would not compete on lower prices. He emphasized the company's strategy to prioritize strengths and value.
The A-Class Limousine, priced between Rs 44.46 lakh and Rs 45.92 lakh (ex-showroom), was the most affordable Mercedes-Benz model in India. With its discontinuation, the GLA SUV becomes the new entry point, with prices ranging from Rs 51.80 lakh to Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upcoming CLA EV and Model Details
The CLA EV will now be the sole entry-level electric vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz India portfolio. The company has indicated a tentative ex-showroom price between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 59 lakh for the CLA EV.
The A-Class Limousine was launched in March 2021 and received a facelift in 2023. It was on sale for five years. The EQB, Mercedes-Benz's first three-row EV, entered the market in 2022, received a facelift in 2024, and had a last recorded price between Rs 70.9 lakh and Rs 77.5 lakh. The EQB spent over three years in the market.
The EQE SUV, launched in September 2023, served as the electric counterpart to the GLE. It was priced at Rs 1.39 crore and remained on sale for 2.5 years. The EQA, with a starting price of Rs 66 lakh, was the most affordable electric Mercedes-Benz model. It was available for less than two years.
GLB Model Update
The ICE-powered GLB was discontinued in April 2025. However, the second-generation GLB, introduced globally last year, will return to India as a full CBU import in its ICE version. The launch date for the new GLB in India has not been announced.
