Powertrain and Range Enhancements

The facelifted EQS is available globally in several variants: EQS 400, EQS 450+, EQS 500 4MATIC, and EQS 580 4MATIC. The EQS 450+ now offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 926km, an increase of about 13 percent over the previous version. The EQS 400 delivers a range of up to 817km, while the EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC reach up to 876km. Battery capacity has increased to a maximum of 122kWh, with the EQS 400 featuring a 112kWh option.
Power output across the range varies from 367hp to 585hp. All-wheel-drive (4MATIC) configurations are available. The EQS supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW, enabling up to 320km of range to be added in 10 minutes under WLTP conditions. The vehicle also supports bidirectional charging, including vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid functions, depending on market availability.
A two-speed transmission on the rear axle is now standard, with a shorter first gear for acceleration and a longer second gear for efficiency at higher speeds. Regenerative braking capacity has increased to 385kW, a 33 percent improvement, allowing most deceleration to be managed through energy recuperation. The air suspension system now uses cloud-based data to adjust damping based on road conditions detected by other vehicles.
Design, Technology, and Features
The EQS retains its coupe-like silhouette but receives updates to the front and rear styling. The front features a new illuminated Mercedes-Benz star and a redesigned grille with a backlit star pattern. Headlamps are now more integrated with the light bar, and daytime running lights include two star-shaped elements. The "Digital Light" headlamps can project high beams up to 600 metres. The bumper design features a larger airdam and chrome accents. At the rear, the light bar and bumper have been updated, with more pronounced diffuser elements. The EQS maintains a low drag coefficient of 0.20.
Inside, the EQS continues with the MBUX Hyperscreen, integrating three displays under a single glass panel. The system runs on Mercedes’ MB.OS software and supports over-the-air updates. New features include an MBUX Virtual Assistant with AI capability and navigation that considers energy usage and charging needs. Optional steer-by-wire technology will be introduced after launch, marking a first for a German production car. The EQS will also offer a yoke-style steering wheel.
Driver assistance systems have been upgraded, including improved lane assist, evasive steering support, and enhanced parking assist with diagonal parking capability. Rear passengers benefit from twin 13.1-inch screens for entertainment and vehicle controls. Additional features include a HEPA air filtration system and heated front seatbelts.
