Mercedes-Benz EQS Updated With 900+ km Range and Advanced Technology
Mercedes-Benz has updated the EQS with a 122 kWh battery, over 900 km range, faster charging, and new technology features. The revised model launches globally in late 2026, with India to follow.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated EQS, introducing major upgrades to its flagship electric luxury sedan. The new EQS now claims a range of over 900 km (WLTP), making it one of the longest-range electric vehicles available. The sedan features a larger 122 kWh battery pack, which is central to its extended range and improved efficiency.
Key Highlights
- Mercedes-Benz EQS updated with 122 kWh battery and over 900 km claimed range
- New 800V architecture enables ultra-fast charging up to 350 kW
- MB.OS system and MBUX Hyperscreen enhance technology and user experience
- Optional steer-by-wire system and yoke-style steering wheel introduced
- Global launch expected by late 2026 with India launch to follow
Battery and Charging Enhancements
The EQS now uses an 800V electrical architecture. This allows ultra-fast charging speeds of up to 350 kW. With this system, the EQS can add significant range within a short charging period. These improvements make long-distance travel more practical for electric vehicle owners.
Mercedes-Benz has also introduced new, more efficient electric motors. A two-speed transmission at the rear axle further boosts efficiency and performance. The updated EQS will be available in several variants, including the 450+, 500 4MATIC, and the 580 4MATIC.
Technology and Interior Features

The new EQS debuts the MB.OS operating system. This system offers enhanced personalisation, improved voice controls, and an AI-based virtual assistant. The MBUX Hyperscreen remains a key feature, stretching across the dashboard and providing a modern interface for the driver and passengers.
An optional steer-by-wire system is now available. This system, combined with a yoke-style steering wheel, removes the mechanical link between the steering input and the front wheels. It improves manoeuvrability and driving refinement, especially in city environments. Rear-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension continue to be standard, maintaining the focus on ride comfort.
Design and Launch Timeline
The updated EQS includes subtle design changes. These include revised headlights with a star-pattern lighting signature and minor adjustments to the front fascia. These tweaks improve aerodynamics while retaining the model’s distinctive one-bow silhouette and low drag coefficient.
Mercedes-Benz plans to launch the updated EQS globally by late 2026. An India launch is expected to follow at a later date. With these upgrades, the EQS aims to reinforce its status as a benchmark in the electric luxury sedan segment.
