Citroen India has introduced the Basalt X Comfort Edition, starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.75 lakh, to mark its 108-year anniversary. This special edition is the latest addition to Citroen's coupe-SUV lineup and features several premium upgrades.

Key Features of Basalt X Comfort Edition

The Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition brings a series of enhancements to the interior and convenience features. It is the second Citroen model to receive the Comfort Edition treatment, following the Aircross. The new edition includes 'Comfort AXS' packs, which are available on the base 'You' and mid 'Plus' trims.

Key features include beige leatherette seat upholstery, a 10.25-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system, and a wireless phone charger. The edition also offers a JBL audio system, dual dashcams with predictive safety alerts, and a rear-view camera for improved safety and comfort.

Engine and Trim Options

The base 'You' trim of the Basalt X Comfort Edition is powered by an 82 HP of power and 115 Nm of torque, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The mid-level 'Plus' trim offers a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 110 HP and 190 Nm of torque.

Buyers of the 'Plus' trim can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. When paired with the automatic gearbox, the engine's torque increases to 205 Nm. These options provide flexibility for different driving preferences.

Market Position and Rivals

The Citroen Basalt X Comfort Edition competes in the mid-size SUV segment. Its main rivals include the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris, and Grand Vitara.

Citroen aims to strengthen its position in the competitive mid-size SUV market with the launch of this special edition. The Basalt X Comfort Edition offers a combination of premium features and multiple engine options to appeal to a wide range of buyers.
