In a captivating blend of automotive innovation and style, Mercedes-Maybach unveiled Project Maybach in December 2021—an off-road luxury concept vehicle. Now, this extraordinary concept car is making waves in India, gracing the prestigious Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. The display will be available for viewing until October 31, 2024.
Unveiling at Miami Art Week
First shown during Miami Art Week, this concept car, with its two-tone exterior and innovative design, offers a glimpse into the future of luxury electric travel. The Project Maybach is a uniquely handcrafted addition to the Mercedes-Maybach fleet, showcasing the brand's commitment to luxury and innovation.
Collaboration and Inspiration
The Project Maybach is a collaborative effort between the late Virgil Abloh and Daimler design chief Gorden Wagener. Inspired by "the great outdoors," this concept vehicle is equipped with off-road systems, a roof rack, aggressive tires, and other rugged trimmings.
Re-imagining Luxury
Targeted to re-contextualize the traditionally urban brand within a distinctly off-road environment, the Project Maybach is a two-seater battery-electric off-road coupe. It combines conventional Gran Turismo proportions with large off-road wheels and distinctive attachments. At 6,000 mm in length, it is 745 mm longer than an S-Class EWB.
The design team envisioned a future of electric travel with a design unlike anything Mercedes-Benz has ever developed. The Project Maybach features a vertical chrome grille, a long hood, a low-slung greenhouse, a silver skid plate, auxiliary lights at the front, and a brush guard at the rear. Round headlamps and taillamps complete the striking exterior look.
Luxurious Interior
Inside, the Project Maybach is leather-bound and features an infotainment screen, jacquard houndstooth-finished headrests that double as blankets, and advanced dashboard controls. It seamlessly integrates class-leading materials with cutting-edge technology to offer unparalleled comfort and style.
A Peek into the Future
The Project Maybach is more than just a tribute to the memory of Virgil Abloh; it foreshadows the future of luxury cars powered by electricity. Its new design language and off-road capabilities challenge the conventional boundaries attributed to luxury vehicles.
While it retains the flowing elegance typical of Mercedes-Maybach, the rugged outdoor elements place Project Maybach in an entirely new direction for the brand.
Visit the Display
Car enthusiasts and luxury aficionados in India have a unique opportunity to witness this groundbreaking concept car. Be sure to visit the NMACC in Mumbai before October 31, 2024, to experience the future of luxury electric travel with Project Maybach.
