The new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV stands out with its coupe-like sloping roofline, frameless windows, and distinctive lighting, including 142 illuminated Mercedes logos in the grille and three-pointed star insignias in the headlights and taillights. The CLA 250+ AMG Line features 18-inch AMG wheels, chrome highlights, AMG-specific bumpers, and flush door handles that deploy automatically. Additional exterior elements include a tailgate release integrated into the Mercedes logo, hidden antennae, and gloss black contrast details.

Inside, the CLA EV offers a dark, sporty interior theme with dual-tone seats and door trims. High-quality materials such as soft-touch plastics, brushed metal, and Alcantara-like upholstery elevate the cabin. Both front seats are electrically adjustable, heated, and feature extendable thigh support. The dashboard houses a 14.6-inch infotainment screen with the latest MBUX system and a 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster. The gear selector is mounted on the steering column, freeing up space in the center console for a wireless charging pad and adjustable cup holders.

Performance and Technology

The CLA 250+ AMG Line is equipped with an 85.5 kWh long-range battery, offering up to 792 km on a single charge. The vehicle uses the new MMA platform with 800V architecture, supporting faster charging and higher performance. The rear-mounted electric motor produces 268 bhp, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. A unique two-speed gearbox enhances power delivery and range. During testing, the car consistently displayed over 700 km of range, even with dynamic driving.

Mercedes-Benz supports 240 kW DC fast charging, which can add 400 km of range in just 20 minutes. The CLA 250+ also features a synthetic sound system, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) tailored for Indian conditions, and a Burmester surround sound system. Boot space is approximately 400 liters, with an additional 100-liter front trunk (frunk). The vehicle includes a fixed glass roof, rear AC vents with USB Type-C ports, and 40:20:40 split rear seats.

Driving Experience and Practicality

The CLA 250+ AMG Line delivers a rear-wheel-drive experience, offering sharp steering and stable highway manners. The ride quality is supported by 18-inch wheels with 225-section tires, and the cabin remains well-insulated from wind and road noise. Safety features and electronic aids perform effectively, and the ADAS suite is non-intrusive. However, the sloping roofline reduces rear headroom, and the rear seating position may not suit taller passengers. Heated front seats are included, though ventilation is absent.

The second-generation CLA represents a significant step up from its predecessor, combining style, technology, and performance in a luxury four-door coupe sedan. With a tentative price of Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom), the CLA 250+ AMG Line targets buyers seeking a premium electric sedan with advanced features and dynamic driving characteristics.
