MG Motors has been testing the upcoming facelift version of the Astor, which we have spotted multiple times in India. But in the recent development and most importantly before the launch of the MG Astor facelift, a new VS SUV has been spotted recently without any camouflaging on it. If launched in India, the spotted will rival the Creta and Seltos, Though, the company has not made any official announcement regarding the launch of the Astor Facelift, it has been seen testing the VS SUV which is currently on sale in the international markets. The VS SUV is also an Astor-based hybrid SUV. The new sighting hints that the upcoming Astor SUV will also be offered with a hybrid setup.
MG VS SUV Spied
The images of the Astor-based VS SUV are widely circulating on social media and auto enthusiasts are taking too much interest in the upcoming hybrid SUV. The VS SUV is currently on sale in Thailand and Indonesia. The VS SUV gets the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine which churns out the similar power figures as the current Astor available in India. The MG VS SUV generates a maximum power of 175 bhp and a peak torque of 142 Nm and transmission duties are handled by a CVT gearbox.
The sight of the MG VS SUV aligns with the automaker’s plans to introduce a vehicle with a plug-in hybrid setup in India. After coming into a joint venture with JSW Group, MG Motors announced its plan to make vehicles powered by sustainable and new energies. Therefore, the automaker is expected to kickstart its transition with the Astor hybrid.
MG VS SUV Design
As far as the aesthetics are concerned, the MG VS gets a sporty front fascia. The SUV comes with sleeker headlamps and DRLs, large air supply intakes and a closed grille.
Talking about the side profile, the SUV has unique alloy wheels different from the ones that come with the Astor. The upcoming facelift will also derive some design elements from the outgoing model.
The MG Astor facelift will also receive some minor interior upgrades such as a new steering wheel, gear lever, and dual display. Additionally, the facelift will also come with some new features inside the cabin which will enhance the driving experience.
MG Astor Engine
The MG Astor SUV which is on sale in India right now is offered in two engine options and 13 variants in total. The Astor SUV is one of the most comfortable and stylish SUVs in its segment. The Astor comes powered by a 1.5 litre NA petrol engine and a 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol unit. The SUV starts at Rs. 9.98 lakh for the base model and goes up to Rs. 17.90 lakh for the top-end version.
