Compared to February 2026, EV sales increased by 54%, while ICE sales dropped by 31%. This trend highlights MG's ongoing shift toward electrification.
The company's current lineup includes ICE models like Astor, Hector, and Hector Plus. Its EV range features the Comet EV, Windsor EV, and ZS EV. MG has also entered premium segments with the M9 electric MPV and the Cyberster electric sports car. The company plans to launch its first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in India around August or September 2026.
Model-Wise Sales Breakdown
The MG Windsor EV was the company's top-selling model in March 2026, with 4,530 units sold. It also became India's best-selling electric car for the month, growing 24% year-on-year and showing strong month-on-month gains. The Hector range sold 850 units, up 55% year-on-year, though this was a decrease from February's numbers.
The MG Comet EV achieved the highest year-on-year growth, with 682 units sold, marking a 294% increase over March 2025. Month-on-month sales for the Comet EV remained stable. ZS EV sales reached 411 units, improving on both year-on-year and month-on-month bases. The Astor model sold 55 units, but this was a decline compared to the previous month.
Future Plans and Market Position
MG Motor India plans to expand its portfolio further, including new models expected to offer both EV and PHEV options. The upcoming models will compete with vehicles like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Harrier. With EVs now forming the majority of its sales and showing higher growth than ICE models, MG Motor India is moving toward becoming an EV-focused brand in the country. The company's future growth will depend on its ability to build on the current momentum in the electric vehicle segment.
