March 2026 Sales Performance

Total sales for March, including exports, reached 10,388 units. Of these, exports accounted for 5,980 units. The domestic growth was driven by the Gravite, which joined the Nissan Magnite as a key product in the company's Indian portfolio.
In February 2026, Nissan Motor India sold 10,565 units in total. Exports made up 8,335 units, while domestic wholesale was just 2,230 units. This shows that the company had relied more on exports before the Gravite launch. The March figures indicate a shift, with domestic sales more than doubling while total sales remained similar to the previous month.
Impact of Gravite and Company Strategy
The Gravite is the first of three new models planned under Nissan's India Resurgence plan. This strategy aims to rebuild Nissan's domestic presence after years of operating with only the Magnite in India. The Magnite, a compact SUV, continues to be sold alongside the Gravite.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, described March as a defining month for the company. He said the strong domestic sales growth reflects positive customer response to Nissan's products. Vatsa also noted that the Gravite's reception supports the company's growth plans. He emphasized the importance of strengthening sales and service and expanding the dealer network to sustain long-term growth. He also acknowledged the support from network partners and financing associates.
Exports and Market Position
Nissan Motor India exports vehicles to 65 international markets. In 2025, the company surpassed 1.2 million cumulative vehicle exports, ranking it among India's major passenger vehicle exporters. Exports remained a key part of the business, as shown by the 8,335 units exported in February 2026. However, with domestic sales rising in March, Nissan appears to be moving towards a more balanced mix between domestic and export revenues.
Nissan Motor India Private Limited was established in 2010 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Japan. The parent company has over 90 years of experience in the automotive industry and sells vehicles worldwide, including the Nissan Leaf. Nissan Motor India currently operates more than 280 customer touchpoints across the country and plans to expand this network as part of its growth strategy.
