Nissan X-Trail Highlights
Known as the Rogue in the USA, made its world premiere in USA in September last year. Nissan showcased the pre-facelift model at the Indian Auto Expo 2016, and in all probability, we will be getting the updated third-generation X-Trail hybrid in India. After the triumph of Terrano in domestic market, Nissan is planning to bring crossover third generation X-Trail SUV to India in order to win over the hearts of the Indian with a four-wheeler with excellent performance. The SUV’s platform remains same as its sibling Qashqai which is reportedly being built for the local market it operates in initially. The platform in talked here as 'CMF C-D'. Inspired by the global markets, Nissan will follow the luxury design language. Appearance styling will be plusher featuring a couple of new elements making it look niche and premium. Moreover, the SUV is likely to be slimmer than before shedding off the heavy stance. Thorough changes are expected to be made to the cabin donning a modish avatar unlike previous and older generation model which featured sophisticated styling. The third generation X-Trail will receive seven-seat layout allowing seven tenants to be seated inside the cabin. Initially, Nissan was expected to launch X-Trail in a diesel engine option only, but the company will reportedly roll out a petrol hybrid version of the SUV in India as well. Still under the hood, the engine could be a 2.0 litre petrol engine along with an electric motor generating a combined output of 179 Bhp. An electric motor will also be installed inside. CVT gearbox will conduct the transmission duties. Additionally, the SUV will also house Nissan’s electric all-wheel drive system. In the premium SUV crossover segment, Nissan X-Trail will face direct rivalry from Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V. Pricing is expected to be on a higher side but very lucrative keeping in mind the features it offers as Nissan could import the car to India, therefore heavy duties levied on the SUV will add incremental charges substantially. Being a CBU unit, the SUV will be priced higher at around 32 lakh to Rs 35 lakh.
