Norton Motorcycles has revealed its flagship sportbike, the Manx R, in the UK. The model is available in four variants, with prices starting at £20,250 (approximately Rs. 25.97 lakh). The Apex and Signature variants are priced at £24,750 and £38,750, respectively. The top-end First Edition variant is available on application and will be limited to 150 units. Norton will offer various accessories for the First Edition.
Key Highlights
- Norton Manx R sportbike launched in UK in four variants
- Prices start at £20,250 with top-end First Edition limited to 150 units
- All variants use a 1,200cc V4 engine producing 206bhp and 130Nm torque
- Hardware includes Marzocchi suspension and varying wheel types across trims
- India launch expected soon with variant details yet to be confirmed
Variant Differences and Features
The four variants of the Norton Manx R differ mainly in hardware. All versions feature Marzocchi USD forks and a monoshock. The base trim offers manual adjustability, while higher variants come with electronically adjustable suspension. Wheel types also vary: the base model has cast aluminium wheels, the Apex uses forged aluminium wheels, and the Signature and First Edition feature Rotobox Bullet Pro carbon-fibre wheels. All variants are equipped with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V4 tyres.
These hardware differences affect the motorcycle's wet weight (without fuel). The base model weighs 210kg, while the First Edition is lighter at 201kg.
Engine and Electronics
All four variants share the same engine. The Manx R uses a 1,200cc V4 engine with a 72-degree firing order. The engine produces 206bhp at 11,500rpm and 130Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. Norton has tuned the engine for strong low and mid-range performance rather than peak top-end output.
The electronics package is standard across all trims. It includes a six-axis IMU, traction control, wheelie control, slide control, and multiple riding modes. Riders can control and monitor these features through an 8-inch TFT screen.
India Launch Prospects
Norton plans to launch the Manx R in India soon. However, it is not yet clear which variants will be introduced by TVS, Norton's new owner. Pricing details for the Indian market are awaited. In the UK, the Manx R is priced below most of its competitors, which may influence its positioning in India.
