Ola Electric to Introduce Raahi, A Leap into the Electric Auto Rickshaw Market

To diversify its portfolio in the electric vehicle market, Ola Electric has announced to unveil its latest offering, an electric auto rickshaw named Raahi.

It came to light that lately Ola has been preparing the development of Raahi for several years. This move will surely capture a significant share of the burgeoning electric auto rickshaw market. Looking at the market dynamics, electric vehicles have seen a rapid increase of 66% in 2022, and are still rising rapidly. This time can be considered the best time for Ola to present all its EV platforms in the market to mark its stand.

Anticipated Launch

Unveiling of the Ola Raahi electric rickshaw, has come up with excitement among the enthusiasts on when the electric auto rickshaw will be launched. However, it has been anticipated that the EV can be unveiled anytime soon by the end of first half of 2024.

Innovative Features

Talking about the features and specs of the upcoming Raahi, we don’t have much information related to it. However, features like solar panels on the roof is one such feature which is expected to come along with Raahi. In addition to this, there are rumours that along with a passenger version a cargo version variant has also been designed for the same model. The EV will be accommodated with standard weather protection features.

Ola Electric is envisaging to shape India into a Global EV hub, as acclaimed by the brand, and hence they are pursuing more plans than only launching Raahi. Beyond electric auto rickshaws, the company aims to present a comprehensive range of EVs, including scooters, motorbikes, and cars. Despite the ongoing demand for EVs in cities like Bangalore and Pune, Ola has announced the launch of its electric cars by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Market Position

As of February, Ola Electric has already made an impact in the electric scooter segment, with 41% market share and selling 33,722 units. This places Ola ahead of other competitors like TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, and Ather Energy, further solidifying its position as a formidable player in India's electric mobility revolution.
