Renault Boreal 7-Seater SUV Confirmed, Expected Features & India Launch
The automaker has named its 7-seater SUV Boreal, which is derived from Boreas, meaning the god of wind in Greek mythology. It's also inspired by the Latin term boreal, boreas, meaning north wind.
The French automobile manufacturer Renault has confirmed that its upcoming 7-seater SUV will be named Renault Boreal. This Renault SUV will be based on the third-generation Duster and will likely make its global debut soon. The automaker will launch its Boreal SUV in Latin America, followed by over 70 non-European countries, including India. However, India's launch time of this upcoming Renault SUV has not been revealed, but it's likely to arrive in 2026 after the launch of the all-new Renault Duster.

Why Is the Renault 7-Seater Named Boreal?
The automaker has named its 7-seater SUV Boreal, which is derived from Boreas, meaning god of wind in Greek mythology. It's also inspired by the Latin term boreal, boreas, meaning north wind. The Naming Strategy Manager at Renault Brand Global Marketing, Sylvia dos Santos, said that Renault has three names: Saga, Icon, and New. The name "Boreal" falls in the New name category and showcases the strength of the SUV and status-enhancing design, technology, and comfort.
What to Expect from the Upcoming Renault Boreal SUV?
Renault Boreal SUV is a critical product of the brand's International Game Plan 2027. The automaker has not revealed the product specification details but will likely share a platform, design elements, features, and powertrain with the new generation Duster. While Renault Duster will be a 5-seater SUV, Boreal will be its extended version with 7-seating capacity and extended boot space.
The 7-seater Duster (named Boreal) will feature Y-shaped headlamps, LED DRL, and LED taillamps, along with an illuminated Renault logo. There will also be C-pillar mounted door handles and sporty wheel arch claddings for premium appeal.
Inside the cabin would be a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will also feature a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Arkamys audio system, flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, and Level 2 ADAS suite.
For powertrain, Renault Boreal is expected to debut with a strong hybrid setup with also mild hybrid option featuring a 140 bhp, 1.2-liter petrol engine.
