Renault India begins global exports of the all‑new Renault Duster
Renault India has officially started exporting the all-new Duster to global markets, reinforcing its position as a key manufacturing hub and signaling a strong comeback for the popular SUV.

Renault India has kicked off a major new chapter for its iconic SUV, announcing the start of global exports of the all‑new Renault Duster from its state‑of‑the‑art Chennai manufacturing plant. The move transforms the India operation into a key export base within Renault’s International Game Plan 2027, underlining the country’s growing importance in the brand’s worldwide strategy for years ahead.
With customer deliveries of the new‑generation Duster already underway in India, exporting the SUV to key international markets is the logical next step in Renault’s renewed push from this region. Built on a modern modular platform with advanced safety and connectivity features, the India‑made Duster is positioned to meet diverse driving conditions and customer expectations worldwide, across Africa and the Gulf.
The All-New Renault Duster

The new‑generation Renault Duster has been completely reimagined for today’s SUV buyer, with development led by Renault’s design and engineering ecosystem in Chennai. It rides on a new modular platform designed to handle everything from urban commutes to rougher terrain and has been engineered from the outset to support conventional petrol and forthcoming hybrid powertrains for improved efficiency.
Inside, the cabin gets a more horizontal dashboard layout, a large central touchscreen for multimedia and connected features, and the integration of Google Automotive Services for a familiar, smartphone‑like experience. A comprehensive suite of driver‑assistance systems and robust crash protection have been prioritised, with the new Duster also earning a 5‑star BNCAP rating for adult and child occupant protection in India
India Step Up As An Export Hub
Renault’s Chennai plant has evolved into one of the brand’s key industrial hubs outside Europe, assembling millions of vehicles and exporting them to more than 100 countries over the years. With the all‑new Duster now rolling out for international markets, India’s role shifts from being just a promising sales market to a genuine global production and export base for the company.
In recent years Renault has taken full ownership of the Chennai facility and positioned India as one of five strategic hubs under its International Game Plan 2027, alongside Latin America, Turkey, Morocco, and South Korea. The company has indicated that it aims to raise plant utilization significantly and ultimately make India one of Renault’s top five global markets by volume.
Export Destination and Timing

Renault has already confirmed that the India‑built new Duster will be introduced in South Africa and the Gulf States following its launch in the domestic market. Export volumes will be ramped up progressively as additional markets are brought on stream, allowing the Chennai plant to supply a mix of left‑ and right‑hand‑drive vehicles tailored to regional regulations and preferences.
This staggered rollout lets Renault leverage India’s cost‑competitive manufacturing while ensuring that each export version is calibrated for local road conditions, fuel quality, and customer expectations. For the brand, it is a way to use one globally recognizable nameplate to drive growth across multiple regions while keeping engineering, sourcing, and production tightly consolidated in Chennai.
