Recent spy shots have unveiled Royal Enfield's highly anticipated Classic 650 motorcycle, captured fully undisguised ahead of its official launch. The images were likely taken near Royal Enfield's technology centre in the UK. The pictures offer enthusiasts a comprehensive look at the Classic 650, showcasing its retro-inspired design and hinting at its expected features and specifications.
The Classic 650 draws inspiration from its younger sibling, the Classic 350, maintaining Royal Enfield's signature vintage aesthetic.
Key design elements of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 include:
- Circular headlamp and tail lamps
- Wide handlebar
- Curvy fuel tank
- Retro-styled front and rear fenders
The spy shots reveal a striking maroon and cream dual-tone color scheme, enhancing the motorcycle's classic appeal. Both wire-spoke and alloy wheel options are expected to be available, catering to different rider preferences.
Talking about the engine specifications of the Classic 650, it features a 648cc parallel-twin engine, shared with Royal Enfield's existing 650cc models. This powerplant is set to deliver 47 PS of power and 52.3 Nm of torque, promising smooth gear shifts and robust low-end performance ideal for cruising. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and it might have the iconic "thump" sound coming from its exhaust as other Royal Enfield bikes.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650's chassis consists of a tubular steel frame, designed to provide optimal stability and rider comfort. The braking system is expected to feature a 320mm front disc and a 300mm rear disc, complemented by dual-channel ABS as standard. Suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic front forks and preload-adjustable twin shocks at the rear.
Pricing for the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is anticipated to be around Rs. 3.5 lakh, positioning it as an accessible option in the 650cc segment. This competitive pricing strategy suggests that premium features like USD forks or the Tripper navigation pod may not be included as standard. However, the Tripper navigation system might be offered through the brand's Make It Yours (MIY) customization program.
The Classic 650's introduction is set to expand Royal Enfield's presence in the middleweight motorcycle market, offering riders an affordable path to a larger displacement classic-style bike. This new model aligns with the company's strategy of blending heritage design with modern performance, making it a highly anticipated release for 2024.
