Royal Enfield is ready to make an exhilarating move to enter the next stage of its middleweight bike segment. The company is planning to launch the brand-new 750 cc motorcycle for the Indian roads. This new phase will lead the company into new segments and boost competition in the market. The plan has already been executed with the recent test mules of the Continental GT-R.
The upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT-R has been recently spotted in testing phases, signaling the arrival of the brand’s first-ever 750 cc cafe racer bike. This upcoming cafe racer will be the new addition to the Royal Enfield portfolio, as the bike will be widely appreciated for moving from a Continental GT 650 cc parallel twin platform to a more powerful and redefined 750 cc engine.
New Powertrain in the Lineup!
As per the rumors reported earlier, Royal Enfield is working on a new engine lineup, which now seems to be true by the recent leaks of a test mule of the new Continental GT-R. The GT-R will be the first motorcycle in the segment to feature a 750 cc parallel-twin engine. However, official performance figures have not been revealed yet.
The new 750 cc engine is expected to deliver 10-12 HP more power than its predecessor. We can assume that the bike can generate 57 HP of maximum power. This power boost will translate to improved bike performance and improved highway overtaking capability.
New design updates

As we can see, the leaked spy shots of the upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT-R maintain the signature design of a retro cafe racer. However, few changes in the design aesthetics appear. The bike features a front cowl that would extend over the fuel tank. We admit that the front fascia of the bike follows a round-shaped, retro-style theme with LED headlights.
Most striking is the introduction of a fully faired design, which is a bit different from its 650 cc predecessor. The bike might also offer a split seat with tuned LED indicators. From the rear the taillights remain the same with a new configuration of dual exhaust pipes. From the spy shots, we can see that the exhaust pipes are now sleeker than before. Additionally, the bike may have new 18-inch alloy wheels. Featuring rear-set footpegs for the pinion's comfortable ride.
Expected Features
With a new powertrain and minor tweaks in the design, the brand might give a major update to the feature for Indian customers. These features might be expected while considering its 650 cc version. The upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT-R might have the following features:
- Semi- or Fully Digital Instrumental Dial
- LED Headlamps
- New improved suspension setup
- Alloy Wheels with disc brakes
- Tubeless Radial Tyres
Conclusion
If you have loved the Continental 650 GT, then you might also give it a chance or make a practical decision to inherit the upcoming Continental GT-R, wrapped with an all-new engine. The bike is expected to be a premium-segment bike by RE and will be positioned above the 650 cc lineup.
