Key Highlights

  • Royal Enfield introduces the Guerrilla 450 Apex as a sportier variant of the Guerrilla platform
  • Apex features a 452cc engine with 39bhp and 40Nm torque and new 17 inch Vredestein tyres
  • Lower and lighter handlebar improves rider connection and handling for a more focused street feel
  • Electronic upgrades include recalibrated ride modes with system memory for last selected mode
  • Distinctive design elements set Apex apart from the standard Guerrilla with a more aggressive look

Key Changes in the Apex Variant

Royal Enfield has long been known for motorcycles with heritage styling and relaxed riding positions. The original Guerrilla shifted this image by introducing a youthful, compact roadster. The Apex variant takes this further, appealing to riders who want more edge from their motorcycle. While the Guerrilla was already recognized for strong acceleration and straight-line performance, some customers wanted a more active, sporting feel. The Apex addresses this demand by offering dynamic handling without the aggressive reputation of some rival machines.

The Apex maintains the core mechanical formula of the Guerrilla. It uses the same 452cc single-cylinder engine, producing 39bhp and 40Nm of torque. The chassis architecture remains unchanged, ensuring the Apex retains its power cruiser base. The main difference lies in its handling and ergonomics. The Apex features a lower aluminium handlebar, which is about 800 grams lighter and positioned 56mm lower and 57mm further forward. This adjustment creates a slightly bent-down stance, improving front-end feel and rider connection to the front tyre.

Performance and Design Enhancements

The new 17-inch Vredestein Centauro ST+ tyres are a notable upgrade. These road-biased tyres improve handling by 30 percent compared to the dual-purpose tyres on the standard Guerrilla. This change gives the Apex a sharper, more settled feel when leaned over in corners. The Apex also receives electronic upgrades, including recalibrated ride modes. Both the standard Guerrilla and the Apex now offer Street and Sport modes. Street mode delivers smoother behaviour, while Sport mode offers a more aggressive response. The system remembers the last selected mode when the motorcycle is restarted.

Visually, the Apex stands apart from the standard Guerrilla. It features a colour-coded front cowl, rear seat cowl, and rim tapes. Exposed fork tubes without gaiters and a more aggressive overall appearance reinforce its sporty identity. The detachable rear cowl and sporty front cowl further emphasize its roadster character.

Positioning and Market Appeal

The standard Guerrilla is positioned as a balanced, versatile motorcycle with a "City Muscle" identity. In contrast, the Apex is designed to be sportier and more modern, focusing on cornering performance. Its pricing suggests Royal Enfield aims to offer strong value from the outset. The Guerrilla 450 Apex refines the brand’s approach to modern performance roadsters. It retains the same engine and core identity but delivers a more committed riding experience through changes in ergonomics, tyres, ride modes, and visual design.
