Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Expected to Launch in Second Half of 2024
Royal Enfield will launch the Himalayan 440 in late 2024, featuring a 443cc engine, low seat height, and accessible features. The model will be priced between the Scram 440 and Himalayan 450, targeting riders seeking simplicity.

Royal Enfield is preparing to introduce the Himalayan 440, a new motorcycle expected to launch in the latter half of 2024. This model, codenamed D4G, will succeed the original Himalayan 411 and aims to offer a more accessible alternative to the Himalayan 450. The Himalayan 440 will use the 443cc single-cylinder engine, which currently powers the Scram 440, and will likely fill the gap between the Scram 440 and the Himalayan 450 in Royal Enfield’s lineup.
Key Highlights
- Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 expected to launch in second half of 2024
- Model will use 443cc single-cylinder engine from Scram 440 with 25.4hp and 34Nm output
- Expected to offer low seat height and simpler features for wider accessibility
- Likely to be priced between Scram 440 and Himalayan 450 models
Key Features and Specifications

The Himalayan 440 will continue the legacy of the Himalayan 411 by focusing on simplicity and approachability. The Himalayan 411 was known for its low 800mm seat height, making it accessible to a wide range of riders. The Scram 440 offers a similarly low 795mm seat, and the Himalayan 440 is expected to maintain this trait. The new model will likely feature switchable ABS and the Tripper navigation pod, both carried over from the Scram 440. However, it is not expected to include advanced features like riding modes or traction control.
The Himalayan 440 will likely adopt the familiar styling of the original Himalayan 411, with updated colours and graphics. It is expected to use the same LED headlight found on recent Royal Enfield models. Mechanically, the bike will use the 443cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine and a 6-speed gearbox from the Scram 440. Output figures are expected to remain close to 25.4hp and 34Nm of torque, with possible minor variations. For comparison, the Himalayan 411 produced 24.3hp and 32Nm of torque with a 5-speed gearbox.
Chassis, Suspension, and Pricing
The Himalayan 440’s chassis will be similar to the Himalayan 411, but it is likely to feature longer-travel suspension to suit its adventure focus. The Himalayan 411 offered 190mm of front and 180mm of rear suspension travel. The new model is expected to use a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both fitted with tubed dual-purpose tyres. It is not confirmed if the Himalayan 440 will offer cross-spoke rims for tubeless tyres, as the model is expected to be positioned at a more affordable price point.
Currently, the Scram 440 is priced between Rs 2.23 lakh and Rs 2.31 lakh, while the Himalayan 450 costs between Rs 3.06 lakh and Rs 3.37 lakh. The Himalayan 440 is expected to be priced between these two models when it launches later this year.
