Royal Enfield has officially kickstarted 2025 with the highly anticipated launch of the Scram 440, an evolution of the popular Scram 411. This all-new model is designed to elevate the brand’s legacy of adventure-orientated motorcycles, blending classic charm with modern performance and practicality.
The Scram 440 is offered in two distinct variants: the Trail and the Force, priced at Rs 2.08 lakh and Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), respectively. While the Trail features traditional wire-spoked wheels, the Force comes equipped with alloy wheels that allow the use of tubeless tyres, catering to diverse riding preferences.
Performance Upgrades
At the heart of the Scram 440 lies a new 443cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering 25.4hp and 34Nm of torque. This larger engine is a derivative of the 411cc motor, achieved by enlarging the bore by 3mm. Complementing this is a new 6-speed gearbox, offering smoother gear transitions and a more versatile riding experience compared to the 411’s 5-speed unit.
Royal Enfield has also refined the Scram 440’s SOHC valvetrain, which, coupled with the larger engine, promises reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels for a smoother ride across terrains.
Enhanced Features and Chassis
The Scram 440 retains its rugged charm while receiving thoughtful updates. A reinforced chassis now allows for mounting a top box with a payload capacity of up to 10 kg, ideal for long-distance riders. Safety and visibility are prioritised with switchable ABS and an LED headlight, both standard across the Trail and Force variants.
With a full 15-litre fuel tank, the Scram 440 tips the scales at 197 kg, making it just 2 kg heavier than its predecessor. This slight weight increase is offset by the motorcycle’s improved functionality and sturdier build.
Design and Variants
The Scram 440 maintains Royal Enfield’s signature retro aesthetics, accentuated by its modern updates. It is available in five colours across its two variants:
- Trail variant: blue and green.
- Force variant: blue, teal, and grey.
These dynamic colour schemes, paired with the motorcycle’s rugged styling, cater to riders seeking individuality and adventure-ready design.
Value Proposition
Despite its numerous upgrades, the Scram 440 remains competitively priced. At Rs 2,000–3,000 more than the Scram 411, it offers better performance, more features, and improved practicality, making it a compelling option for both city riders and off-road enthusiasts.
Conclusion
With the Scram 440, Royal Enfield continues its tradition of delivering motorcycles that strike the perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation. Whether you’re tackling urban streets or embarking on off-road adventures, the Scram 440 promises to be a reliable and stylish companion for 2025 and beyond.
