Royal Enfield 350

In the ever-evolving landscape of classic motorcycles, Royal Enfield has once again raised the bar with the introduction of the Shotgun 650. Positioned as the fourth iteration on the 650 twin platform, this bobber version of the Super Meteor 650, is making waves with its unique design and impressive performance. Let's delve into the details and discover what sets the motorcycle apart in this First Ride Review.

Design and Build

The motorcycle showcases a significantly distinct design from its predecessor, the Super Meteor. Every inch of the bodywork, from the tank to the side panel and rear fender, is unique to the Shotgun. Notably, an aluminum cowl over the headlamp adds a modern touch to its classic aesthetics. The motorcycle exudes a premium aura, thanks to meticulous attention to detail, exceptional quality, and impeccable finish levels.

The ergonomically optimized bucket seat, with a seat height of 795mm, adds comfort to the rider's experience. What sets this seat apart is its versatility – transforming seamlessly from a single-seater to a dual-seater and even evolving into a luggage-carrying tourer, catering to the diverse needs of riders.

Chassis and Suspension

The chassis of the motorcycle is a testament to Royal Enfield's commitment to delivering a superior riding experience. The steel-tubular spine frame provides a solid foundation, complemented by the USD front suspension, Showa SF-BFP, and Twin RSU with 5-Step preload adjustable rear suspension. The front suspension, Showa Separate Function Big Piston Fork, USD, offers 120mm of travel, while the rear suspension, Showa Twin Shock, provides 90mm of travel.

Complementing the unique wheel configuration, the motorcycle features specially designed tyres for optimal performance. The choice of tyres enhances the bike's handling characteristics, striking a delicate balance between grip, comfort, and aesthetics. These bespoke tyres contribute to the Shotgun's ability to navigate various terrains with confidence and poise.

Braking System

Safety takes center stage with the feature of braking system. The dual-channel ABS ensures controlled braking in various conditions. The motorcycle features a single 320mm disc with a twin-piston floating caliper at the front and a single 300mm disc with a twin-piston floating caliper at the rear.

Riding Experience

One noticeable change in the motorcycle is the increased seat height of 795mm. Despite the higher perch, the bike remains accessible for riders 5'8" or taller, allowing them to firmly plant both feet on the ground.

The seating ergonomics are comfortable, with a flat handlebar and mid-set footpegs providing a hint of sportiness. The overall demeanor of the motorcycle suggests a motorcycle that is not just quick and stable but dynamically well-sorted.
