Skoda AutoVolkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has hit a defining milestone by producing 2 million vehicles locally, underscoring India’s growing importance as a global automotive manufacturing powerhouse. This landmark achievement reflects not just volume but a sharp evolution in local engineering, consumer trust, and export strength that promises a robust future for the Group’s brands in India and beyond.
The milestone comes amid SAVWIPL’s most commercially successful period yet, with October 2025 marking the best month since the group’s inception. Over half a million vehicles have been produced on the proprietary MQB-A0-IN platform—an embodiment of India’s engineering excellence powering Skoda and Volkswagen models tailored for the domestic market and benchmarked for global standards.

New Chapter in Indian Automotive Manufacturing
SAVWIPL’s journey to 2 million locally produced cars spans 25 years of sustained investment and growth. The last 500,000 vehicles were manufactured in just 3.5 years, highlighting a surge in demand for models like the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kodiaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Virtus. These vehicles, developed by local engineering teams, exemplify a synthesis of design, technology, and consumer insight that is rooted in India but resonates globally.
Beyond domestic sales, more than 700,000 vehicles have been exported to markets spanning Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. This export success reinforces India’s burgeoning status as a strategic hub under the Group’s "Made in India, Driven by the World" vision, with two cutting-edge manufacturing plants situated in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar anchoring this growth.
Market Momentum and Brand Expansion

Skoda Auto India recorded a record-breaking sales performance in the first 10 months of 2025, more than doubling sales year-over-year to 61,607 units. Volkswagen also celebrated its highest-ever monthly sales for the Virtus sedan, which commands a dominant share in the premium sedan segment. The Group’s premium brands—Bentley, Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini—further complement this momentum.
Bentley inaugurated a new phase with expanded operations and new showrooms in key Indian metro cities. Porsche grew its customer base significantly, while Audi advanced India’s electric vehicle ecosystem with the Charge My Audi initiative. Lamborghini reached a milestone with its best-ever annual sales, driven by hybrid models like the Temerario, aligning with its global sustainability strategy.
