As the launch of the Nexon facelift approaches, more details surface about the upcoming SUV. Alongside cosmetic enhancements, Tata Motors has packed the facelift with a plethora of premium features, addressing previous concerns about the Nexon's lack of offerings compared to other popular sub-4m SUVs.
Revamped Trim Nomenclature
Tata Motors aims to simplify the trim naming convention for the Nexon facelift, doing away with the current code-style names like XE, XM, XM+, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux. Instead, the facelift will adopt more user-friendly and relatable names, inspired by Tata Punch's successful Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, Creative, and Camo trim levels. Custom packs like Rhythm, Dazzle, and iRA will also be available.
Special Editions and Market Impact

At the time of launch, the Nexon facelift will initially offer only core trim levels. Special editions such as Dark, Jet, Kaziranga, and Red Dark will be gradually introduced, available exclusively with top-spec trims. Tata's strategy of launching special editions has proven successful, contributing significantly to the overall sales of respective models, often accounting for 15% of total sales.
Exciting New Features and Upgrades
The Nexon facelift boasts a range of new features, including a 360° camera with HD display, sequential turn indicators, and front parking sensors. The latter is a rare offering in the sub-4m SUV segment, currently available only in the Mahindra XUV300.
Inside, the facelift boasts an impressive 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital instrument console, borrowed from the updated Harrier and Safari. A new 2-spoke steering wheel, adorned with a backlit Tata logo, adds a touch of elegance to the cabin.
Enhanced Safety and Performance
Safety remains a priority, with all Nexon facelift trims equipped with six airbags as standard. Higher trims will receive additional perks, including ventilated seats, wireless charger, Tata's new patented touch-based HVAC control panel, LED DRL welcome signature, and leatherette upholstery.
In terms of performance, the facelift raises the bar with a new 7-speed DCT gearbox, replacing the existing AMT unit, providing smoother shifts and improved driving experience. Additionally, a new 1.2-litre petrol motor, generating 125 PS and 225 Nm, is expected to be introduced, an upgrade from the current 1.2-litre unit producing 120 PS and 170 Nm.
Conclusion
With its comprehensive upgrades and improved offerings, the Nexon facelift is poised to maintain its dominance in the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment. The blend of captivating design, cutting-edge features, and enhanced performance is set to solidify its position as a compelling choice for SUV enthusiasts.
