Tata Sierra EV: Key Features, Range, and Pricing Expectations for India Launch
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in India next month. The electric SUV is expected to offer a spacious cabin, advanced battery technology, a range close to 600km, and pricing starting around Rs 15 lakh.

Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in India next month. The company initially planned to introduce the electric version first, but later changed the order. The internal combustion engine (ICE) Sierra has been available since November 2025, offering three powertrain options and surpassing 20,000 deliveries.
Key Highlights
- Tata Sierra EV to launch in India next month
- Expected range close to 600km with real-world range over 400km
- Spacious cabin with 2730mm wheelbase offers segment advantage
- Potential all-wheel-drive setup for improved performance
- Pricing may start around Rs 15 lakh with possible battery-as-a-service option
Sierra EV Design and Space
The Sierra EV is expected to share its silhouette and dimensions with the ICE Sierra, based on earlier concepts, spy shots, and official teasers. The ICE Sierra is known for its spacious cabin and large glass area, which creates an airy interior. The ICE Sierra features a 2,730mm wheelbase, making it one of the most spacious SUVs in its segment. The Sierra EV is likely to offer a similar or slightly improved layout. Compared to rivals with shorter wheelbases, such as those measuring 2,610mm, the Sierra EV holds a clear advantage in cabin space. This should result in generous space for both rows of passengers.
Battery Technology and Range
Tata Motors has not disclosed specific details about the Sierra EV's battery pack. However, the model is expected to sit alongside the Curvv EV in Tata’s lineup and may use a similar battery configuration. Tata’s recent advancements with the Punch EV could influence the Sierra EV’s technology. The Punch EV features improved battery packaging, more energy-efficient cell layouts, and reduced energy-consuming components. These changes have led to better range and efficiency. If Tata applies this approach to the Sierra EV, the vehicle could offer two battery pack options. The expected range on paper is close to 600km, with a real-world range likely to exceed 400km per charge.
Performance and Drivetrain
The Sierra EV may come with an all-wheel-drive setup, giving it an edge over many competitors in its segment. If the electric motors match the performance of the Harrier EV, the Sierra EV could deliver strong performance on various terrains, both on and off the road.
Pricing and Market Position
Pricing will be a crucial factor for the Sierra EV’s success in India. The ICE Sierra is currently priced between Rs. 11.50 lakh and Rs. 21.30 lakh. The Sierra EV could start at around Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh. Tata Motors has previously experimented with the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model for the Punch EV. If this model is adopted for the Sierra EV, it could lower the entry price and make the SUV more accessible to buyers.
