Triumph is making ways to expand its portfolio in India. With its new model, the company is increasing its 400cc category for Indian customers, and the latest model on the list is the all-new Thruxton 400. The brand is making a bold move to rev up its persona in the retro cafe racer segment with the upcoming Thruxton 400.
Triumph’s upcoming bike will be the all-new Thruxton 400. The upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 was spied in its final production form just before its official debut launch. The British marque, in collaboration with Bajaj Auto, is set to expand its successful 400cc series, and this time blending classic style with contemporary tech to appeal to both new riders and seasoned enthusiasts.
Triumph Thruxton 400 based on neo-cafe racer styling
The Thruxton 400 takes design inspiration from its larger Thruxton 1200 siblings but brings it down to the Triumph Speed 400cc-based with neo-retro cafe styling. The recent spy shots reveal a striking dual-tone red-and-silver body color. With the dual-tone color scheme, the body contours are wrapped with a classic “racing stripe” across the fuel tank. The motorcycle is equipped with a retro front fairing, clip-on handlebars, and a curved rear cowl. These aesthetics together reinforce its cafe racer ethos.
Styling-wise, the bike offers sporty, vintage appeal. The cafe racer features a half fairing with a raked windscreen, round LED headlamps, and an upswept exhaust. For sitting, a single seat with slightly rear-set footpegs promises a spirited yet comfortable riding experience. The taillight appears to be the same as that on the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400XC. It also features the same retro-themed instrument cluster from its other 400 cc variant models.
Moreover, a grab rail is also visible, hinting that a rear cowl can be replaced with a pillion seat.
Same mechanical aspects
The upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 will be powered by the same 300cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine found on the other Triumph 400 models. The engine is expected to produce 40 HP and 37.5 Nm of maximum torque. This engine may tweak the power delivery to better suit the cafe racer intent. The chassis, suspension, and braking configuration may also be carried over from the existing 400 cc models. However, the bike might be equipped with a 6-speed gearbox.
The spy test mule rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Indian version might be badged with 17-inch MRF Tyres. The Thruxton 400 may also feature a dual-channel ABS as standard, with LED-tuned indicators. The Thruxton 400 will be the fifth motorcycle under the brand's portfolio after the Speed 400, Scrambler 400, Speed T4, and Scrambler 400XC.
Conclusion
The upcoming Thruxton 400 is ready to attract enthusiasts who are looking for a retro-modern motorcycle with a sporty stance. Triumph is making plans to launch this bike in India and showcase the margins and stakes of motorcycles in the middleweight segment. If the bike is expected to be priced between 2 and 3 lakh, then it may boost the growing sales figure in the market.
