TVS Credit's Role and Performance

TVS Credit has become a key part of TVS Motor's business after years of investment. The company focuses on retail financing for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, used cars, tractors, commercial vehicles, consumer durables, personal loans, gold loans, and business loans. TVS Credit mainly serves self-employed and first-time borrowers in semi-urban and rural markets across 22 states in India.

In the 2025-26 financial year, TVS Credit reported a 26% year-on-year increase in disbursements. The company ended the year with assets under management of Rs 30,639 crore, marking a 15% rise from the previous year. Total income reached Rs 7,196 crore, up 9%. Profit before tax increased by 21% to Rs 1,238 crore. The customer base grew to about 2.44 crore during the year.

Shareholding and Strategic Developments

TVS Motor holds an 80.76% stake in TVS Credit. In 2023, Premji Invest acquired a 9.7% stake in TVS Credit for Rs 737 crore. This investment was made through a combination of primary and secondary transactions. TVS Credit has received AA+ ratings from all three major rating agencies, reflecting its financial stability and prudent growth.

Chairman Sudarshan Venu stated that the company is considering various strategic alternatives for TVS Credit. These options include a possible separation of the financial services business. However, he did not provide a timeline or details about the structure of the proposed separation. This is the first indication from TVS Motor that it is exploring such strategic moves to enhance long-term shareholder value.

Industry Context and Recent Trends

The announcement comes as other companies in the sector are also making strategic moves. Recently, Hero FinCorp Ltd, promoted by Hero MotoCorp, filed for an initial public offering worth Rs 3,668.1 crore. The financial services sector is seeing increased activity as companies look to expand and unlock value for shareholders.

TVS Credit continues to grow its presence in the market, focusing on financial inclusion for underserved segments. The company operates within the broader TVS Renew ecosystem, supporting the group's long-term business strategy.
