VinFast’s Expansion Plans in India

VinFast confirmed that it will bring the Evo, Feliz, and Viper electric scooters to India. These models are currently sold in Vietnam. The scooters will initially arrive as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units from Vietnam and will be assembled at VinFast’s plant in Tamil Nadu. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu for about 200 hectares of land at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi. This move will help VinFast expand its manufacturing facilities in India.

VinFast plans to start selling these CKD scooters in 2026. Sources indicate that local manufacturing of these models may follow in the future. The company also stated that the products will be tailored to suit local usage conditions and mobility habits in India.

Details of Evo, Feliz, and Viper Scooters

The Evo, Feliz, and Viper scooters have different specifications and target different customer needs. The Evo features 12-inch wheels, a 770 mm seat height, and a kerb weight of 110 kg. It is powered by two 2.4 kWh battery packs and a hub-mounted motor with a peak power of 2.25 kW. The Evo has a claimed top speed of 70 kph and offers 35 litres of underseat storage. In Vietnam, the Evo is priced at 2,28,00,000 VND, which is about Rs 81,204 at current exchange rates.

The Feliz and Viper models are traditional big-wheeled underbones with 14-inch wheels. The Feliz uses a 3 kWh battery and a 2.8 kW motor, while the Viper has a larger 4.8 kWh battery and a more powerful 3 kW motor. The Viper is priced at 45,500,000 VND, or about Rs 1.63 lakh, and the Feliz costs 26,900,000 VND, or Rs 95,807. Both models have 10 litres of underseat storage.

Future Developments and Localization

VinFast is also developing India-specific electric scooters, but the launch timeline for these models remains unclear. The company’s initial focus will be on assembling and selling the Evo, Feliz, and Viper scooters in India. Over time, VinFast may increase localization and manufacturing within the country.
