Volkswagen has officially launched its all-new Golf GTI Mk 8.5 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 53 lakh. With this price tag, the Volkswagen Golf GTI has become India's most expensive Volkswagen car. It's the second GTI model from VW after the discontinued Polo GTI, and it has been brought to India as a CBU.

The first batch of 150 Volkswagen Golf GTI has already been pre-booked within a few days of the commencement date. The company spokesperson revealed that Volkswagen plans to bring 100 more Golf GTIs based on robust demand in the Indian market.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Exterior Design
VW has provided clean lines with several sports design touches across the exterior. The front gets dual-pod LED headlights, full-width LED DRLs, and an illuminated VW logo.
The sleek red finish and GTI badge further enhance its exterior design profile. The bumper with honeycomb detailing and a five-piece fog lamp adds to an aggressive look. The hot hatch rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and features red brake calipers.
It has a smoked-out finish on the rear side with well-positioned wrapped-around LED tail lights. The rear bumper also features twin exhaust outlets to round off the look. Volkswagen has offered the Volkswagen Golf GTI in four exterior color options: Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White, and Kings Red Metallic.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Interior Features
The Golf Mk 8.5 packs premium-grade sports seats with GTI stitching in red fixed front headrests and signature tartan inserts in the center. It gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red GTI clasp. The Golf GTI has a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for display.
The interior is further enhanced with a wireless charger, three-zone climate control, 30-color ambient lighting, sunroof, and paddle shifters. The hot hatch has seven airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, a rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX anchors.
VW Golf GTI Powertrain & Performance
The all-new Golf GTI gets a powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, churning out 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. The same engine is also offered in the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line SUV. The TSI motor has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission powering the front wheels. The hot hatch gets an electronically controlled front axle differential lock.
Additionally, it can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the electronically limited top speed is claimed at 250 km/h. While it does not have direct rivals, it can go head-to-head with the Mini Cooper S, accelerating 0-100 in 6.6 seconds and achieving a top speed of 242 km/h.
