Volkswagen India will announce the prices of the new Taigun facelift tomorrow. The company has already started production of the updated SUV at its Pune plant. Bookings are expected to open soon after the official launch.
Key Highlights
- Volkswagen to announce Taigun facelift prices tomorrow
- Production has started at the Pune plant ahead of launch
- Updated design includes connected lighting and wide chin
- Interior may offer new infotainment and digital instrument cluster
- Engine options remain with possible new eight speed automatic gearbox
Design and Exterior Changes

The new Volkswagen Taigun shares its platform and mechanical components with the Skoda Kushaq. The updated model features a modern and cleaner exterior compared to the previous version. The design now includes a connected lighting setup and a wide front chin, giving the SUV a more aggressive stance. These changes aim to enhance the vehicle's appeal in a competitive segment.
Interior and Feature Updates

Inside, the Taigun facelift may receive several improvements. Expected updates include a new infotainment screen, an all-digital instrument cluster with revised graphics, and a cleaner dashboard layout. The SUV could also offer a panoramic sunroof and refreshed seat upholstery. Volkswagen may add a rear seat massage function, similar to the one found in the Skoda Kushaq, to improve passenger comfort. It remains to be seen if advanced features like ADAS and a 360-degree camera will be included, as these were not offered on the Kushaq.
Engine and Transmission Options
The new Taigun will continue with its current engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. The 1.0-litre variant may receive an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the 1.5-litre version is expected to retain the seven-speed DSG transmission. These powertrains have contributed to the Taigun's reputation for strong driving dynamics in its segment.
Market Position and Pricing
The Taigun and its sibling, the Kushaq, are known for their dynamic driving experience. However, they have offered fewer features compared to some rivals. With new competitors entering the segment, Volkswagen may face challenges in maintaining its position. Pricing will be a key factor, and Volkswagen is expected to price the new Taigun competitively to attract buyers.
