The Xiaomi YU7 GT with Track Package has become the first vehicle to complete a full lap of the Nurburgring autonomously, without a human driver. The electric performance vehicle finished the 20.8 km circuit in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds. This achievement marks a significant milestone for autonomous driving technology in high-performance vehicles.
Key Highlights
- Xiaomi YU7 GT completes first autonomous lap of the Nürburgring in 10 minutes 29.483 seconds.
- The YU7 GT set a new SUV lap record at Nurburgring in May 2026 with 7 minutes 34.93 seconds.
- Vehicle features a 101.7 kWh battery, a 1,003 HP dual-motor setup, and a 705 km claimed range.
Xiaomi's Nurburgring Achievements
This is not Xiaomi's first notable performance at the Nurburgring. In May 2026, the YU7 GT set a new production SUV lap record with a time of 7 minutes and 34.93 seconds. This time was 1.76 seconds faster than the previous record held by the Audi RS Q8 Performance. In the previous year, a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype completed the circuit in 6 minutes and 22.09 seconds, making it seven seconds quicker than the Mercedes-AMG One.
Autonomous Driving System Details

During the autonomous lap, the YU7 GT navigated all 73 corners of the Nurburgring. The circuit features about 300 metres of elevation change and varying road surfaces. The vehicle managed these challenges without any driver intervention. Xiaomi states that its autonomous driving system constantly monitors vehicle behavior and road conditions.
The system controls steering, braking, and power delivery in real time to maintain stability, especially at high speeds. Xiaomi uses the Nurburgring autonomous driving project to collect data in extreme driving conditions. This data helps the company further refine its autonomous technology for future vehicles.
YU7 GT Performance Specifications
The Xiaomi YU7 GT is equipped with a 101.7 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-motor setup. Xiaomi claims the YU7 GT delivers a peak power output of 1,003 HP. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2.92 seconds and can reach a top speed of 300 kph. According to the CLTC cycle, the YU7 GT offers a single-charge range of 705 km.
Additional Context
The Nurburgring is known for its challenging layout and is often used by manufacturers to test vehicle performance. Xiaomi's achievements at the circuit highlight both its advancements in electric vehicle technology and its progress in autonomous driving systems. The company continues to use these tests to improve its vehicles under demanding conditions.
