Key Highlights

  • Yezdi Scrambler updated with new design and engine for India
  • Royal Enfield Scram 440 offers more torque and longer suspension travel
  • Yezdi Scrambler priced at Rs 1.99 lakh while Scram 440 starts at Rs 2.23 lakh
  • Both bikes feature retro-inspired styling and modern features

Design and Styling

The Yezdi Scrambler adopts a simple, rugged look. It features a round LED headlight, exposed frame, upswept stubby exhaust, and an offset single-pod instrument console. The ribbed seat, round side-panel, and minimalist tail section enhance its scrambler appeal.

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 continues the design language of the discontinued Scram 411. It offers a more understated appearance, with a cleaner profile, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and simple tank shrouds. While both bikes look robust, the Scram 440’s design is less aggressive than the Yezdi’s.

Engine and Performance

The Yezdi Scrambler uses a 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 29.4bhp and 30Nm of torque. The engine is high-revving, delivering power at higher RPMs.

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is equipped with a 443cc air/oil-cooled engine. It generates 25.4bhp and 34Nm of torque. Its long-stroke engine provides most of its power at lower RPMs, resulting in a torquey, laid-back riding experience.

Suspension and Ride Quality

Both motorcycles have telescopic front forks. The Yezdi Scrambler features twin rear shock absorbers, while the Scram 440 uses a monoshock at the rear. The Yezdi offers 150mm front and 130mm rear suspension travel. In comparison, the Scram 440 provides 190mm front and 180mm rear travel. Both bikes have 200mm of ground clearance. The Scram 440’s longer suspension travel may offer better comfort over rough roads.

Features and Pricing

The Yezdi Scrambler comes with a single LCD instrument console. The latest update adds a traction control system with three preset modes. It also includes switchable ABS for off-road use.

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 features a semi-digital instrument console with an analogue speedometer and digital readouts for fuel, trip, and odometer. It offers the Royal Enfield Tripper navigation module as an optional extra for turn-by-turn navigation.

The Yezdi Scrambler is priced from Rs. 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Scram 440 starts at Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), making it about Rs. 24,000 more expensive. The Yezdi Scrambler appears to offer better value on paper, while the Scram 440 provides a torquier engine and more practical features. Both motorcycles cater to different rider preferences.
