Ferrari is moving into the electric vehicle market and you can expect an electric model debut in 2025 which was confirmed by Chairman John Elkann in April 2021. The groundbreaking model is on schedule for an official unveiling late next year and has been recently seen while testing for the first time.

Early Testing and Design Speculations

A disguised test vehicle, resembling an oversized hatchback, was spotted in Maranello by Derek Cornelissen. The vehicle seems to combine elements from the Maserati Levante with Ferrari Roma headlights and features newly designed wheels. The quad exhaust tips are fake, indicating that the prototype is indeed an electric vehicle. The use of a Levante body does not necessarily imply an electric version of the V-12-powered Purosangue.

Manufacturing and Market Position

Ferrari's first EV will be produced at a newly inaugurated factory at its Maranello base. The company promises an "authentic" noise for the EV, though details are still undisclosed. Reports suggest a price tag exceeding $500,000, but CEO Benedetto Vigna has not confirmed this figure or the speculation about increasing annual production from 14,000 to 20,000 vehicles.

Future of Ferrari’s Engine Lineup

Despite the shift to electric, Ferrari plans to continue producing V-12 engines as long as regulations allow. Head of Product Marketing, Emanuele Carando, mentioned that V-12 cars would remain in production until outlawed. By 2030, Ferrari expects pure internal combustion engine (ICE) cars to make up 20% of annual sales, with plug-in hybrids and pure EVs each constituting 40%.

Carbike360 Says

Ferrari's first electric vehicle is projected to represent 5% of total shipments by 2026. Additionally, a second electric model is reportedly in early development stages, showcasing Ferrari's commitment to electric mobility.
