The tuning fork mark that represents the Yamaha brand was inspired by his experience of studying tuning with a tuning fork in his hand. The mark symbolizes the three essential elements of music: melody, harmony and rhythm.
Yamaha expanded its product range to include pianos, wind instruments, string instruments, percussion instruments, electronic instruments and audio equipment. It also diversified into other fields such as sports equipment, lifestyle products, semiconductors and recreation business.
Yamaha has a strong presence in both domestic and international markets. It has established subsidiaries and affiliates in many countries and regions. TVS stands for T. V. Sundaram Iyengar, who founded the company in 1911 as a transportation business with a large fleet of trucks and buses under the name of Southern Roadways.
