TVS Jupiter CNG Latest Update

Latest Update: TVS Motor Company showcased Jupiter CNG at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show as the world’s first CNG-fuel-powered scooter. The two-wheeler brand claimed that the upcoming TVS Jupiter CNG will have the same 125cc engine and offer an impressive 84 km/kg fuel mileage.

While TVS previewed a near-production version of Jupiter CNG, it is still in the concept and testing stage. Therefore, Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts will have to wait a few months to get more clarification on the launch of the TVS Jupiter CNG in India.

The CNG-fuel-powered Jupiter is expected to retain a similar design and styling to its ICE counterpart. It is still in the concept phase, and if everything goes well, TVS can launch the world’s first CNG scooter in the second half of 2025, notably around the festive season.

The sources also claim that Jupiter CNG will be based on the existing 125cc Jupiter chassis, but will see some customizations to fit the CNG tank on the front apron under the seat. With the addition of a 1.4kg CNG kit, there will not be any under-seat storage in this model, which can be a drawback of buying this TVS scooter.

However, TVS has claimed that the Jupiter CNG will provide 84 km/kg mileage, ensuring economical operating costs for the buyers.

The 125cc single-cylinder engine fitted in the Jupiter CNG scooter will produce 7.1 bhp and 9.4Nm of torque. The scooter will have a top speed of 80 km/h. Except for powertrain and performance, the other aspects, like design, wheels, features, and brakes, will be similar to the petrol-powered Jupiter 125.

Expected Price & Rivals
TVS Jupiter CNG price in India is expected to range between Rs 90,000 to Rs 1,00,000. While the scooter has no direct rival, it will get competition from 125cc scooters available in the market, including the Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Activa 125.

How is TVS Jupiter CNG Scooter?

Jupiter CNG: What to Expect?

The Jupiter CNG is anticipated to make a significant impact on India’s urban scooter segment and may emerge as the world’s first commercially available CNG scooter. Likely based on the popular Jupiter platform, this model could offer much lower running costs and improved fuel efficiency, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious urban commuters.

Key Highlights

  • Expected to feature a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine
  • Estimated output could be around 7.1 bhp and 9.4 Nm torque
  • Expected price range Rs 90,000 - Rs 1,00,000 (ex-showroom)
  • Likely to offer dual-fuel setup with CNG + small petrol tank
  • Claimed CNG efficiency could be around 80-84 km/kg
  • Total combined range may reach around 220 km
  • Expected to debut after its concept showcase at Auto Expo

The TVS Jupiter CNG is anticipated to use a modified version of the standard Jupiter 125 platform. It could be powered by a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine tuned to run on compressed natural gas while still offering a small petrol tank as backup. Early details suggest the engine may produce close to 7 bhp and about 9.4 Nm of torque, which should be adequate for everyday city commuting. The scooter is expected to deliver around 80-84 km per kilogram of CNG, while the combined CNG and petrol range could reach roughly 220 km.

The Jupiter CNG will largely follow similar styling of the TVS Jupiter 125, retaining its practical and commuter-friendly layout. The CNG tank is expected to be positioned beneath the seat, protected by a plastic cover and accompanied by a visible pressure gauge.

If introduced in the market, the Jupiter CNG could occupy a unique space in the commuter segment with virtually no direct competitors. While conventional petrol scooters dominate the category, electric options like the OLA S1 X and Lectrix LXS 3.0 represent alternative mobility solutions, making the CNG-powered Jupiter an interesting middle ground.

Conclusion

If it makes it to production, the TVS Jupiter CNG could become a major innovation in the commuter scooter segment. By combining the practicality of a petrol scooter with the low running costs of CNG, it may offer a compelling option for daily riders seeking affordability and efficiency in urban mobility.
