The eagerly awaited 4th-gen Maruti Swift has made its debut in Japan, marking a new chapter for the iconic hatchback. Known for its elegant design, reliability, and peppy performance, the Swift has been a popular choice globally. The latest iteration brings a blend of cosmetic enhancements and technological upgrades, promising to uphold the legacy of its predecessors.
Swift's Timeless Design Enhanced

The challenge of refreshing a design that is already appreciated for its aesthetics is not lost on Suzuki. The company has taken a measured approach, introducing only the most relevant visual tweaks to the new-gen Swift. Key highlights include redesigned headlamps, LED DRLs, and fog lamp housing, contributing to a sportier look. The front grille retains its familiar outline but incorporates new design elements, complemented by a metallic touch on the front bumper for a faux skid plate appearance.

Changes on the sides feature a new character line connecting the headlamps and tail lamps, accompanied by standard rear door handles—a departure from the C-pillar-mounted handles on the current model. The rear sees refreshed tail lamps and a more prominent bumper design, resulting in a modified boot lid. The updated version offers new alloy wheels and potential additions to the color palette in both monotone and dual-tone options.
Interior Refresh

Inside the cabin, the new Swift introduces a refreshed look with changes to the dashboard, center console, and AC vents. However, some clutter remains, suggesting room for improvement in future iterations. The 4th-gen Swift boasts a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The interior upgrades also include a new auto climate control panel borrowed from the Baleno.
Performance Upgrade with the Z Series Engine

Suzuki aims to elevate the Swift's performance and fuel efficiency with the introduction of a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The engine incorporates a 48V self-charging mild hybrid setup, promising increased torque and an impressive fuel efficiency of around 25 kmpl. The anticipation for the India launch is high, with expectations pointing towards an unveiling in the coming months.
